I'm sure you all remember MDickie's 'Biggest success outside of wrestling'. The original PopScene, released in 2004. Well the updated version released 4 years later is heading to be MDickie's biggest failure.
I don't want to start shouting criticisms at it straight away. Those who liked the original (me) will be happy with it, it's just he hasn't done enough to market it as a new game.
The game revolves around music. You create your virtual chart topper out of Mat's never changing list of clothes, and from there you can record new material for an album, book shows and hire more band members from the 6 record labels.
As it should be, releasing singles in advance to selling your album, and watching it top the charts is extremely exciting. You can get a pretty accurate estimate of where it will peak because of 2 factors. The strength of the writing (stars) and the fan appeal (hearts). These both appear next to the song after it has been recorded.
When starting a new album, you can choose what music you would like on it by choosing one of four pools. there are 14 tracks in each pool and they are all MDickie's own music. Most of them were in the original game, so it is dissapointing to see little improvement. But as he says, you should put your own songs in to make it feel more authentic.
Anyway, im not going to delve into detail, because I would only be talking about the original game because they are so alike. Should you buy it? If you have played the original game, you will like the updated graphics and if you haven't, then you should at least take a look at the trials.
