Part 1 : Pre-modding
1.) The first thing you'll wanna do is find a face of the wrestler you want to mod. I like to use these links for wrestlers faces :
www.psdprotocol.com/
www.wwe.com
www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/gallery/index.html
www.psdspy.com/
images.google.com/imghp?tab=wi
Also, if you use google's regular search sometimes you can find a wrestlers official website, those are great for good facial pictures and sometimes logos.
You'll want to find a face that has details all the way back to the ear but, can be mirrored for both sides to look good. So usually when someone is just slightly turned works great ! Also it has to be light on the side of the face you want to use, if it's dark you can work with it but, it's a pain.
Also, that is not the actual size of the face we are going to use, it's just so you guys can see the color differential.
-For this tutorial we're going to do... John Cena ! (gasp!)
www.psdprotocol.com/download_psd.php?filename=5824.psd
^ Thats the face we are using.
2.) Next, you will need to get the Face DTT attached at the bottom. I decided to include the DTT face I personally use because it has a reference for eyes, nose, and mouth already and will be easier for me to explain.
Step 2 : Lets get the face on the DTT !!!
1.) Open up the Face DTT and the Face in Photoshop.
2.a) Select the face using the "Rectangle Marquee Tool" (i.e., the Dotted Square).
2.b ) Now with your mouse, drag the head into the DTT.
3.) Before we go any further make sure the face is in the right spot in the layers, it should look like this :
Step 3: Let's make the face
1.) Now using the Rectangle Marquee Tool again, select half of the face. A good marker to make sure you have half of the face is, to use the lips or the space between the eyes as a good reference.
2.) Now simply press the 'DELETE' key on your keyboard, and the half of the face you've selected is gone. Now your ready to do the infamous Mirror technique.
3.) Now right click on the Face's layer. And simply select "Duplicate Layer". Yahtzee ! now we have to sides of a face that are identical and will match up perfectly ;D
4.) Now go to the top menu and click in this order. EDIT > TRANSFORM > FLIP HORIZONTAL. I couldn't get a pic of this step so I apoligize for that. Anyways once you are done, you should have this :
5.) Now you can use the Move Tool (V) to line up both sides of the face. The one I had turned out kind of funny but, nevertheless it's for the tutorial.
6.) Now press CTL+E, that should merge the top face layer down with the other half and make it one solid face.
7.) Now make the Face Markings layer visible and use from the top menu, EDIT > FREE TRANSFORM, to line everything up.
Step 4: Now let's make the rest of the head
*THIS CAN GET VERY DIFFICULT AND FRUSTRATING IF YOU LET IT*
1.) Now first you will need to duplicate the face, the same way you did earlier with half of the face. (i.e., Right-Click on the layer, and select Duplicate Layer).
2.) Now go to the top menu and select EDIT > FREE TRANSFORM. Now strech the face so that the ears cover the ears, and the chin is covered as well. This is what I got when done :
3.a) Now it's time to get rid of the neck and ears, for good reason to. For the ears and neck, simply use the eraser tool at 35 pt. with the fade brush. NEVER use the solid brushes.
3.b) Time to axe the Eyes, Nose, and Mouth. To do this we will use the 'Clone Stamp Tool (S)'. Now Press ALT+Left Click over Cena's forehead, this will cope the texture from there to anywhere you paint over. So start with the eyes, and work down to the nose, eventually making your way to the mouth. MAKE SURE, you keep going back to the forhead to re-select it. That way you don't just pain the eyes somewhere else.
Final Result :
4.a) Now move the face layer we didn't expand to be above the face layer we just edited.
4.b) Now use the eraser tool with the fade at anywhere from 21-45 pt. around the edges and anywhere that it doesn't blend in well. Also, you'll want to change the Erasers Opacity to 50% and go over the chin itself, to keep it but, match the color better. It should be looking really good at this point.
Step 4: Let's Blend it all together and finish the basics.
1.) Now you will want to select the Face Color Layer and the Paintbucket tool.
2.) Now hold ALT and select ANYWHERE on the face. This will take the color you selected and make it usable for your paintbucket. So... use it and color in the layer with that color.
3.) Go back to the eraser tool and put the Opacity to 50% if it's not already there. Now use fade the chin and and edges of skin on the stretched Cena face, to help blend it in with the color of the face perfectly !
4.) A general rule of thumb I follow now, is to not let ANY shiny parts left on the face itself. It just looks funny sometimes. So make sure you use the eraser to blend in those colors as well.
Luckily, the hair is already good on the face, so we shouldn't have any problems there. Don't worry part two of this will be hair and details. So enjoy our new John Cena Head. ;D
***************************************************
Something I forgot to cover in the last part. One the face that has the eyes and details, use the faded Eraser on the top of the hair, to blend his hair in. Now onto part 2.
(We are still going to use the Cena facewe just did, with the hair erased for ease and reference)
1.) Open the Generic Add-ons folder, Make Generic Hair C visible. As you can see it is already a shaved head but, we are mearly going to use to for reference. You'll learn how simple it is to make a shaved head.
2.) Make a new layer over the 'Generic Hair C'.
3.) Select the Paintbrush tool, and make sure your color is BLACK. Now just paint over the hair we are using for a reference, in the new layer.
4.) Now you'll want to fill in some spots to make it look right in the game. Namely these spots marked :
5.) Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise and use these settings, Amount : 75, Uniform, Monochromatic
6.) Go to Filter > Blur > Blur More
7.) Now go to the layers box. Select the layer and change the blending options to 'Multiply'. The Opacity is changed as well. The lowest you can go and have it show up in game, I've found is around 7-10%.
Well there ya go a shaved head, purdy.
This one is actually really easy.
1.) First we start off with the same shaved head we used before. So do those steps for the fade.
2.) Make 'GENERIC HAIR B' visible. This is essentially a good military style hair cut but can be improved. With these simple steps. Make a new layer over Generic Hair B, this will be our thick hair part.
3.) Open a hair type you like for the main hair, from your HAIR folder. Now Drag & Drop it into the Face we are using, over the other hair textures.
4.) Now duplicate it and fill up the black park of the Generic Hair B.
5.) Now, you don't need Generic Hair B anymore, so make it invisible and you're done.
Some wrestlers have the shaggy emo look to their hair. I'm going to show you how to make them look damn good for your mods.
1.) First take the hair you want for your mod from your Hair folder, to the DTT you want to use. Using the age ol' 'Drag & Drop'.
2.) Now you may want to duplicate it like in the last lesson. This will provide you with better results and no problems.
3.) Now you'll want to use the "Clone Stamp Tool (S)" and this Paintbrush :
4.) Now after you ALT + Left Click the hair, make a new Layer (trust me). Then use the clone stamper and make some craziness.
5.) Now using the top menu use, EDIT > TRANSFORM > FLIP VERTICAL.
6.) Place it on the forehead and your done

Details, Details, Details
Adding a Shaved Hairstyle, that looks great.
