1. Can you tell us a little bit about the game?
The project started out as a simple 3D modeling experiment. I just wanted to test myself and see if I could construct an arena...Then it turned in to a pro wrestling arena...Then I decided I'd like to turn it in to a full-fledged game project. International Wrestling League will (hopefully) be one of the top pro wrestling games ever designed and produced. We are going at this a bit differently than a lot of the mainstream pro wrestling games by having several promotions, each with their own rosters, arenas, events, and storylines. The top three "big dog" promotions are Attitude Wrestling Entertainment, LLPM (la Lucha Libre Profesional de Mexico), and Ultimate Japan Pro Wrestling. In addition, there are several independent promotions in the game that the player will work through to make it to one of these top promotions. By launch, we hope to have at least 10 different promotions.
2. What program(s) are you using to make the game?
Most of the modeling is being done using Blender 3D, and in fact, the game is also being prototyped using the Blender Game Engine. By launch we will have moved to a more advanced engine to polish and complete the game.
3. What do you want people to know about your game?
I want people to know that this game is a labor of love. I have a full time job that pays me very well, and I do not have to spend my extra time developing this project, but I do because I want to see it grow and succeed. I love this project with every fiber of my creative being, and I am proud to have garnered as much interest as I have. This game is for the fans that have been neglected and downright abused by the big studios with the most recent batch of horrible wrestling games out there. I want to bring it back to the days of No Mercy, Giant Gram 2000, Fire Pro...and then twist in my own unique style of gameplay on top of that. I think it will be very enjoyable for everyone in the end.
4. Is this game inspired by any previous wrestling games?
As I mentioned before, I am heavily influenced by my experiences with WWF No Mercy, Giant Gram 2000 on Dreamcast, and the Fire Pro series. I am also a fan of arcade fighters like Street Fighter, and I am going to make that all work together.
5. I understand there will be crowd fighting in the game, can you elaborate more on this?
Yes! There will be in-crowd fighting to a scale not seen yet in any other pro wrestling game. Every fan (at least on the floor level) will be able to be displaced, and the majority of their chairs will be usable as weapons if you so choose. We want this to be the most open fighting system you have ever experienced in a pro wrestling title.
6. There is also going to be scaffold high jump/bumps too?
This is still in the early stages, but we do plan on having scalable scenery and scaffolds.
7. When can we expect a demo?
I would look for a demo before Christmas for sure, but it may get pushed back by 2-3 months if nothing else, just to ensure quality.
8. You have some spectacular looking arenas in the game so far. How many arenas are scheduled to be in the game?
There will be at least one arena per promotion. The "big three" will have special event (PPV) arenas as well.
9. What kind of mods can the fans expect to look forward to? Will there be custom music for entrances?
It is still too early to say, however everything in IWL is being designed with the future in mind. Sets are designed in pieces and segments for inclusion in a possible "arena editor", characters are modeled in pieces to allow for a future CAW mode. So while we are keeping it in mind, nothing is set in stone just yet.
10. I understand you are looking for help with the game? Where can you be contacted and what are the requirements for people wanting to help?
Yes, I am looking for a few people to help out. We want the highest quality possible for our project and as such we do request that anyone applying have previous game creation or mod experience in their specific field of application. If you do have experience I want to hear from you at CaptainCRUNNK@gmail.com! If you would like to view the full listing of jobs available (volunteer, no pay, just love), please visit www.iWrestlingLeague.tk and click on "Get Involved!" in the top navigation bar. I am really excited about this project and I would like for everyone involved to treat it as if it were their own baby. In the end the amount of love poured in to this game will be evident in the level of polish and fun.
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. Can`t wait to see how the game turns out. Looks very nice and promising. If anyone else has any questions feel free to post them on this thread. Thank You!
